Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)

ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland, located below the brain. ACTH activates glands on the kidneys (adrenal glands) to make cortisol, a substance that helps the body deal with stress.

When cortisol levels in the blood rise, the ACTH levels in a healthy person normally fall in response. When cortisol levels decrease, ACTH levels normally rise.

All Healthwise education is reviewed by a team that includes physicians, nurses, advanced practitioners, registered dieticians, and other healthcare professionals.

In an effort to better meet the needs of our community our office hours will be changing as of September 2, 2024.

Monday-Thursday we will be offering appointments as early as 8am and as late as 4pm.

On Fridays we will be offering appointments as early as 8am and as late as 12:30pm.

We believe the addition of these earlier and later appointments during the week will better meet the needs of our patients.
